Lofty Blue Label Pinot Noir

De Salis Wines Lofty Blue Label Pinot Noir is a barrel selection of the best parcels of estate Pinot Noir each vintage. All the fruit is grown on the estate's Lofty Vineyard, first planted in 1993.

The wine is a blend of several Pinot Noir clones. Most of the fruit is left as whole bunches for fermentation.

A portion of the whole bunch fruit undergoes carbonic maceration, where the grapes slowly begin fermentation inside a sealed vessel full of carbon dioxide. This extracts finer tannins and accentuates riper fruit characters in the final wine.

Maturation occurs over 12 months in new and seasoned French oak. The best barrels are selected for the final blend, which is bottled unfined, unfiltered and triple racked.

Crimson red, De Salis Wines Lofty Blue Label Pinot Noir has deep red fruit flavours with a savoury backbone and firm, velvety tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
